Why Tajikistan in 2026
Tajikistan is a small market by volume, but it is building fast in one place: Dushanbe. A handful of large projects that all need ventilation and air conditioning are under way or newly finished. Treat the projects below as a map of where the work is, not a forecast of order volumes.
Dushanbe projects
- Dushanbe Tower complex: the foundation stone was laid on 3 September 2026 for a 77-floor tower inside a complex of five high-rise towers with office, residential and hospitality space. The developer is the Dushanbe real estate group Amir Holding and the architecture firm RMJM is designing the tower. Completion is slated within about five years. Sources give different heights (340 m from the presidency, 359 m and 400 m elsewhere), so we quote none. Towers of that class need central air handling, stair pressurisation and smoke extract duct.
- National Stadium: a 30,000-seat football stadium inaugurated on 21 August 2026, ahead of the 35th anniversary of independence. Concourses, hospitality areas and plant rooms all need sheet metal ductwork.
- National Theatre: a large theatre in Dushanbe's National Flag Park, with a main hall of 2,500 seats and two further halls, was reported as due for completion in 2026. We could not confirm whether it has been handed over. Auditoria are duct-heavy buildings, which suits shops with good rectangular capacity.
- Rogun hydropower plant: construction is still under way, with the first generating units reported in operation and the 2026 state budget allocating about 11.4 billion somoni. Plant halls and site facilities need ventilation, but major works like this are usually supplied through their own main contractors, so view Rogun as an industrial-ventilation lead and not a sure order book.
Underneath these sit the everyday jobs: hotels, banks, shopping centres, hospitals, schools and apartment blocks in Dushanbe and Khujand. Our data centre duct manufacturing guide and cleanroom duct guide cover the more specialised work. For the wider region, see our Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan guides.
Standards and codes for ductwork in Tajikistan
Tajikistan comes from the Soviet building-norms system and still works in its tradition. The country now issues its own norms, marked RT, through the Committee for Architecture and Construction under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. The seismic code is SNiP RT 22-07-2018, which replaced an earlier 2015 edition. Duct shops should expect three layers on a drawing set:
- Tajik national norms and GOST-heritage documents: ventilation design is written in the SNiP and GOST tradition shared across the CIS, and many CIS duct makers publish sizes to GOST 24751-81. We could not confirm the number or edition of the current Tajik HVAC norm, so ask the designer which document is called up.
- Seismic provisions: Dushanbe is in a seismically active region, and the national seismic code is the reference for hangers, supports and bracing on larger buildings. See our hangers and supports guide.
- International specifications: foreign-funded hotels, offices and towers are frequently designed by international consultants, who typically name SMACNA, ASHRAE or EN standards. See our international duct standards comparison, gauge chart and air leakage classes guide.
In practice one shop may need metric standard sizes for a local project and pressure-class duct for an international tower in the same month. That favours machines with quick size changes, a TDF flange line for tight transverse joints and a reliable seam closing method.
Importing duct machinery into Tajikistan
- Not an EAEU member: Tajikistan is outside the Eurasian Economic Union, which counts Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia as members. Its foreign minister said in February 2026 that there were no plans to join. Imports use Tajikistan's own customs tariff and the EAC mark is not the Tajik system.
- VAT: under the Tax Code's transitional provisions the rate on taxable operations and imports is 14% through 31 December 2026 and 13% from 1 January 2027, against a general rate of 15% in the main article. Check the rate on your clearance date, since the change falls near typical delivery windows.
- Customs duty: Tajikistan joined the WTO in March 2013. Its tariff runs from 0% to 15%, with a trade-weighted average of about 7% according to the US Commerce Department. We could not verify the rate for duct forming machinery, so have your broker classify each machine and confirm the rate before you budget. We quote no figure.
- Conformity: we could not find a published rule that says whether a duct machine needs a Tajik conformity certificate. Ask your customs broker or the national standards body before the machine ships. Taokron machines are CE marked with a Declaration of Conformity and ship with electrical diagrams and manuals, which helps with documentation.
Tajikistan is landlocked, so machines arrive by rail or road after the sea leg, usually through a neighbouring country. We confirm the route and transit time in each quotation. Our importing guide covers the general paperwork.
Power supply: 380 V three phase, 50 Hz
Tajikistan runs at 50 Hz with a nominal 220 V single phase and 380 V three phase supply, the same system as its neighbours. Taokron builds its spiral tubeformers, auto duct lines, TDF flange machines, lockformers and plasma cutters for 380 V, 50 Hz, three phase as standard, so no transformer or motor change is needed. Measure the real voltage at your workshop and send it with your enquiry, and check that your connection capacity suits the line you plan to buy. As a guide to connected load, the SBAL-V auto duct line is rated 40 kW, the SBAL-III 10.7 kW and the SBPC1550 plasma cutter 12 kW. See also duct machine voltage and frequency by country.
Typical Tajik shop set-ups and the machines that fit
Contractor shop, rectangular duct for fit-outs
Most duct for offices, hotels, banks and shops is rectangular galvanised duct, and in many small shops it is still cut and folded by hand. The step up is a compact coil line: the Auto Duct Line SBAL-III (0.5 to 2.0 mm, up to 18 m/min) or the Rectangular Duct Line II SBAL-II. Around it, a Pittsburgh lockformer (SBLC series) makes the seams, a TDF flange forming machine makes the transverse joints, and a duct zipper closes the TDF corners and seams. A pneumatic folder and a corner machine cover straight duct, fittings and corner pieces with a small crew. If your drawings call for stiffening beads, add a grooving and beading machine.
Volume shop for towers, stadiums and theatres
Shops chasing the Dushanbe towers and public buildings need output and consistent quality over thousands of square metres. The Auto Duct Line SBAL-V is a U-shape coil-to-duct line for 0.5 to 1.5 mm, a Plasma Cutter SBPC1550 cuts fittings from nested drawings, and a hydraulic folder handles heavier gauges and long bends. A shearing machine prepares sheet for fittings.
Round duct
Spiral duct suits exposed ceilings, car parks, warehouses and industrial extract. The Spiral Tubeformer SBTF-1500 covers 80 to 1500 mm diameter in 0.4 to 1.2 mm galvanised steel, and the SBTF-1602 covers 80 to 1600 mm in 0.4 to 1.3 mm galvanised steel or aluminium. The Spiral Duct Flanging Machine SBFB-1600 turns flanges on round duct ends. For a real example, see Kavanagh Industries in Sydney, which added an SBTF-1602 in October 2026.
Stainless and heavier work
For stainless extract in kitchens, laboratories and hospitals, the stainless duct forming machine and the Automatic Stitchwelder SB-ZF1500 cover the seams that a lock cannot. Our shop set-up guide covers sequencing.
Labour and space
We could not find a reliable figure for sheet metal wages in Tajikistan, so check current rates locally. What does not change is the handling count: manual rectangular duct means shear, notch, fold, seam and fit flanges for every section, and an auto duct line combines most of those steps, so the same output needs fewer skilled hands. Operators are trained during commissioning on your own duct sizes.
On space, the SBAL-V body measures about 14.5 x 5.0 m before coil storage, a forklift lane and room to stage finished duct, and the SBAL-III is shorter. Ask us for a layout drawing based on your building before you sign a lease. Dushanbe summers are hot and winters cold enough to need heating, so keep control cabinets and hydraulic units out of direct sun and keep coil stock in a covered hall. Our factory layout guide has worked examples.

FAQ
Is Tajikistan in the EAEU, and does it need EAC certification for machines?
No. Tajikistan is not a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, whose five members are Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia. In February 2026 its foreign minister said Tajikistan had no plans to join. Imports are therefore cleared under Tajikistan's own customs rules and not the EAEU Common Customs Tariff, and the EAC mark is not the Tajik system. We could not find a published list that says whether a duct forming machine needs a national conformity certificate, so ask your customs broker or the national standards body before the machine ships. Taokron machines are CE marked with a Declaration of Conformity and ship with electrical diagrams and manuals.
What VAT and duty apply when importing duct machinery into Tajikistan?
The Tax Code sets a transitional VAT rate of 14% for taxable operations and imports through 31 December 2026, falling to 13% from 1 January 2027, against a general rate of 15% in the main article. Check the rate in force on your clearance date with your broker. Tajikistan joined the WTO in March 2013 and its tariff rates run from 0% to 15%, with a trade-weighted average of about 7% according to the US Commerce Department. We could not verify the rate for duct machinery, so the duty depends on the 10-digit code your broker assigns to each machine. Do not budget a duty figure until the broker confirms it.
Which standards do Tajik ductwork specifications use?
Tajikistan issues its own building norms, marked RT, such as the seismic code SNiP RT 22-07-2018 from the Committee for Architecture and Construction under the Government. Ventilation drawings in the country are written in the Soviet-era GOST and SNiP tradition, and foreign-funded projects often add ASHRAE, SMACNA or EN references. We could not confirm the number of the current Tajik HVAC norm, so build to the documents named in each project specification and ask the designer for the exact edition.
What voltage and frequency do duct machines need in Tajikistan?
Tajikistan's grid runs at 50 Hz with a nominal 220 V single phase and 380 V three phase supply, the same system as the rest of the former Soviet region. Taokron builds spiral tubeformers, auto duct lines, TDF flange machines, lockformers and plasma cutters for 380 V, 50 Hz, three phase as standard. Measure the voltage at your workshop, because supply quality varies, and send it with your enquiry.
Where is ductwork demand in Tajikistan coming from in 2026?
Mostly from Dushanbe: the Dushanbe Tower complex, where the foundation stone was laid on 3 September 2026; the 30,000-seat National Stadium opened on 21 August 2026; the new National Theatre in the Flag Park; and ordinary commercial and residential building. Large works such as the Rogun hydropower plant create industrial and site-facility demand but are mostly supplied through their own contractors.
Which machines should a new Tajik duct shop start with?
A shop making rectangular duct for offices, hotels and shops usually starts with a rectangular duct line II or the SBAL-III auto duct line, a Pittsburgh lockformer, a TDF flange former, a duct zipper or seam closer and a folder. Add a corner machine, a plasma table for fittings, and then a spiral tubeformer once round duct becomes regular work. Send your duct sizes, gauges and monthly output and a Taokron engineer will propose a machine set within 12 hours.
