Why Armenia in 2026
Armenia's Statistical Committee reported construction volume of AMD 369.2 billion for January to July 2026, up 25% on the same period of 2025, with July alone up 26.5% year on year. Organisations financed 48% of the total and public funding 24.6%. That is national data and does not split out Yerevan or ductwork, but Yerevan is where most commercial, hotel and data-related building happens, so the trend feeds directly into the order books of duct shops there.
Data and AI infrastructure
Firebird opened what it calls the largest AI data centre in the CIS region at Hrazdan, about 45 km north-east of Yerevan, in early August 2026. The company has said it plans 300 MW of capacity and more than 70,000 NVIDIA GPUs by the end of 2027; that is a plan, not operating capacity, and reports of the first phase differ, with one outlet putting the first site at 15 MW. Schneider Electric and Vertiv were reported as power and cooling suppliers. Be realistic about what that means for ducting: white space is usually cooled by dedicated units, but electrical rooms, battery rooms, plant rooms, offices and smoke extract all need sheet metal. Our data centre duct manufacturing guide covers the detail.
Hotels, residences and offices in Yerevan
Branded hospitality keeps arriving. Courtyard by Marriott Yerevan opened in September 2024, and Accor announced in December 2024, with the Armenian operator Technotun, a Pullman Residences and Living development in Yerevan's Norki Ayginer area, targeted for 2027. Opening dates for projects under construction change, so treat them as leads to follow, not a guaranteed order book. Hotels and serviced residences are among the most duct-heavy buildings: guest room supply and extract, kitchen extract, laundry, car parks and stair pressurisation. Apartment blocks, offices and retail in Yerevan add the everyday volume: car park ventilation, smoke extract, toilet and kitchen extract risers, and shop fit-outs.
Standards and codes for ductwork in Armenia
Armenia sits between two technical traditions. Its building norms grew out of the Soviet SNiP system and are issued as national building codes (ՀՀՇՆ in Armenian, RABC in English translations), while the national standards body adopts both interstate GOST standards and European EN standards. In practice you build to whatever the project specification names. We could not confirm the number of the current Armenian HVAC design norm from an official source, so ask your designer which document applies.
- GOST and AST EN adoption: the Armenian standards catalogue lists ventilation documents in force, including GOST 32548-2023 for air terminal devices and GOST 21.602-2016 for heating, ventilation and air conditioning working documentation, alongside AST EN 15241 and AST EN 15242 on ventilation losses and airflow and HST EN 16798-17-2024 on inspecting ventilation systems. We did not find EN 1505, 1506, 1507 or 12237 in that listing, so do not assume the European duct construction standards are adopted.
- Seismic code: the Armenian seismic design code RABC II-6.02-2006 divides the country into three seismic zones, and a newer edition, RABC 20.04, has been reported; check which is in force for your project. In a country with this earthquake history, hanger and bracing details matter. See our hangers and supports guide.
- Thermal protection: the 2016 national code "Thermal Protection of Buildings" (Order 120-N) is the energy rule in force according to the World Bank, and it pushes designers toward tighter, insulated systems; our air leakage classes guide explains what that means for seams and sealing.
- SMACNA, EN and DW/144: hotels, data centres and projects designed by foreign consultants usually name one of these instead. Our international duct standards comparison and gauge chart show the differences, and our TDF vs angle flange guide helps if clients still ask for angle iron flanges from the SNiP era.
Neighbouring markets work the same way: see our guides to Georgia, which is moving from SNiP toward European standards, and Kazakhstan, which shares Armenia's EAEU rules and where SP RK documents set out how ducts are made.
Importing duct machinery into Armenia
- Customs duty: Armenia joined the Eurasian Economic Union in 2015 and applies the EAEU Common Customs Tariff, with temporary exemptions listed in Annex 4 of the accession treaty. The code differs by machine type, we could not verify the duty for each one, and sources disagree on how production equipment is treated. Ask your customs broker to classify the machine and confirm the rate before you budget.
- VAT: the standard rate is 20%, charged at import on the customs value plus any duty.
- EAC conformity: machinery sold in the EAEU is normally covered by TR CU 010/2011, usually declared together with TR CU 004/2011 and TR CU 020/2011, by an applicant based in an EAEU country, often the importer. Documents issued in one member state are generally accepted in the others. Procedures change, so confirm with your broker or a conformity body.
- CE is separate: Taokron machines are CE marked with a Declaration of Conformity, which is not an EAC document. We supply drawings, electrical diagrams and manuals for your EAC file on request.
Armenia is landlocked, and containers commonly arrive through Georgia's Black Sea ports and then by road or rail, so allow for the extra leg and the border crossing when you plan delivery. Tell us your preferred route when you request a quotation. Our importing guide covers the general paperwork.
Power supply: 400 V three phase, 50 Hz
Armenia runs at 50 Hz, with 230 V single phase for sockets and lighting and 400 V three phase for industrial equipment. Taokron machines for Armenia are wired for 380 to 400 V three phase at 50 Hz. Check the transformer capacity at your site before you put an auto duct line and a spiral tubeformer on the same supply, and tell us if the voltage sags, so we can size the control transformer and protection. See also duct machine voltage and frequency by country.
Typical Armenian shop set-ups and the machines that fit
Contractor shop, rectangular duct for fit-outs and buildings
Rectangular duct is the core product for hotels, offices and apartment buildings, so most Armenian contractor shops should start there. A practical set is a Rectangular Duct Line II SBAL-II or Auto Duct Line SBAL-III, which take coil to cut, beaded and notched blanks in one pass. Add a Pittsburgh lockformer (SBLC series) for longitudinal seams, a TDF flange forming machine for transverse joints and a pneumatic folder for fittings and short runs. That covers straight duct, TDF joints and simple fittings with a small crew.
As output grows, a duct zipper closes seams far faster than hand hammering, and an auto corner making machine or pneumatic corner mounting machine takes corner pieces off the bench. The Pittsburgh seam also lets a Yerevan shop ship duct flat and close it on site, which saves truck volume on the road to regional jobs.
Project shop for hotels and data-related work
Shops chasing hotel, campus and plant room packages need output and consistent quality over thousands of square metres. The Auto Duct Line SBAL-V runs from coil to finished panel, a Plasma Cutter SBPC1550 cuts fittings from nested drawings, and a hydraulic folder handles heavier gauges and long bends. For a real example of a full rectangular shop, see Airtemp in Canberra, which installed eight machines in September 2026.
Round duct
Spiral duct suits exposed ceilings, car parks, warehouses and industrial extract. The Spiral Tubeformer SBTF-1500 or SBTF-1602 forms round duct from coil, and the Spiral Duct Flanging Machine SBFB-1600 turns flanges on round duct ends. Kavanagh Industries in Sydney added an SBTF-1602 in October 2026. For heavier or stainless work, the stainless duct forming machine and Automatic Stitchwelder SB-ZF1500 cover seams a lock cannot.
Labour and space
Armenia's average monthly nominal salary was AMD 303,140 in 2025, up 5.6% on 2024, according to the Statistical Committee. Construction wages vary by employer, so confirm local rates. Skilled sheet metal operators are scarce in a small market, and an auto duct line combines the shearing, notching, beading and folding steps of manual rectangular duct, so the same output needs fewer skilled hands.
On space, the auto duct line is the longest item, with coil racks at one end and a run-out table at the other, and a spiral tubeformer needs run-out length for full duct sections. Ask us for a layout drawing based on your building before you sign a lease, and leave room for coil deliveries and finished duct storage. Our factory layout guide has worked examples, and how to set up a duct fabrication shop covers sequencing.

FAQ
Which standards apply to ventilation ductwork in Armenia?
Armenia works from its own building norms, which grew out of the Soviet SNiP system, and its national standards catalogue carries both interstate GOST standards and European EN standards adopted as Armenian standards. We could not confirm the number of the current Armenian HVAC design norm from an official source, so ask your designer which document the project names. Projects with foreign consultants, hotels and data centres often specify SMACNA or EN duct standards instead. The seismic building code (RABC II-6.02-2006, with a newer RABC 20.04 edition reported) matters for hangers and bracing. Always build to the documents named in the project specification.
What voltage and frequency do duct machines need in Armenia?
Armenia runs at 50 Hz, with 230 V single phase for sockets and lighting and 400 V three phase for industrial equipment. Taokron machines for Armenia are wired for 380 to 400 V, 50 Hz, three phase. Measure the supply at your workshop and tell us the transformer capacity so we can size the control transformer and protection to suit.
What duty and VAT apply when importing duct machinery into Armenia?
Armenia is a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, so duty comes from the EAEU Common Customs Tariff, with some temporary national exemptions listed in Annex 4 of Armenia's accession treaty. Import VAT is 20%, charged on the customs value plus any duty. The code differs by machine type and we could not verify the duty rate for each one, so ask your customs broker to classify the machine and confirm the rate before you budget.
Do imported duct machines need EAC conformity in Armenia?
Machinery placed on the EAEU market is normally covered by technical regulation TR CU 010/2011 on the safety of machines and equipment, and machines with electric drives are usually declared together with TR CU 004/2011 (low voltage) and TR CU 020/2011 (EMC). The declaration is registered by an applicant based in an EAEU country, often the importer, and customs may ask for it. Requirements and procedures change, so confirm with your broker or a conformity body. Taokron machines are CE marked with a Declaration of Conformity, and we supply drawings, electrical diagrams and manuals for your EAC file.
Where is ductwork demand in Armenia coming from in 2026?
Construction output rose 25% in the first seven months of 2026 to AMD 369.2 billion, according to the Statistical Committee. Named sources of ductwork include the Firebird AI data centre at Hrazdan near Yerevan, which opened in August 2026 with a stated plan to reach 300 MW by the end of 2027, hotel and serviced residence projects in Yerevan such as Pullman Residences and Living, and the commercial and residential building that makes up most of a Yerevan duct shop's order book.
Which machines should a new Armenian duct shop start with?
A contractor shop making rectangular duct for offices, hotels and apartment buildings usually starts with a rectangular duct line or auto duct line, a Pittsburgh lockformer, a TDF flange former and a folder. Add a duct zipper and corner equipment as volume grows, a spiral tubeformer when round duct becomes regular work, and a plasma table for fittings. Send your duct sizes, gauges and monthly output and a Taokron engineer will propose a machine set within 12 hours.
